About 25km south of Coburg, almost exactly halfway towards Bamberg, two of Germany's most famous ecclesiastical complexes can be seen in exhilaratingly lofty positions on either side of the Main valley. Both lie within the scattered municipality of STAFFELSTEIN , a recuperative health resort with a pretty half-timbered town centre. The main attraction of its Kurpark is the Obermain Therme (daily 8am-9pm), which offers some of the best and most up-to-date bathing facilities in Bavaria.
