The Bavarian section of the Odenwald , a forest which straddles across into both Baden-Wurttemberg and Hesse consists of territory which, in common with Aschaffenburg, formerly belonged to the Archbishop-Electors of Mainz. It includes two small towns well worth making the object of a day-trip or overnight stay: being linked by rail, they are easily combined.
