Oberstdorf's Bahnhof , the southernmost train station in Germany, is at the northwestern edge of the town centre. It's the terminus of a branch line with regular services to Munich, Ulm and the Bodensee. If you need help with finding somewhere to stay, contact the tourist office (Mon-Fri 8.30am-noon & 2-6pm, Sat 9.30am-noon; tel 0 83 22/70 00, fax 70 02 36, www.oberstdorf.de ), Marktplatz 7, or its Zimmervermittlung branch across from the Bahnhof (same times; tel 0 83 22/70 02 17). There are any number of reasonably priced private rooms (less than DM60/?30-DM99/?49) and guesthouses near the town centre, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding something yourself. The latter include Amman , Weststr. 23 (tel 0 83 22/29 61; DM80-99/?40-49), Alpengluhn , Wittelsbacherstr. 4 (tel 0 83 22/46 92; DM80-99/?40-49), and Buchenberg , Lorettostr. 6 (tel 0 83 22/23 15; DM80-99/?40-49). outstanding views. At Haus no. 8 in the neighbouring village of Kornau, which can be reached by buses bound for Kleinwalsertal, you'll find the nearest youth hostel (tel 0 83 22/22 25, fax 8 04 46; DM23/?11.50), while the all-year-round campsite (tel 0 83 22/40 22) is just north of the Bahnhof. The best and most expensive restaurant is Maximilians , Freibergstr. 21; Bacchus-Stuben , Freibergstr. 4, is a far more moderately priced alternative.
