Built in 1986 on the site of what was once Paris's largest abattoir and meat market, the Parc de la Villette is an enormous high-tech arts and science park in the northeast of Paris. The landscaped grounds include a huge science museum, a music museum, various satellite attractions and a series of themed gardens. It's made up of so many disparate, disconnected elements and such a clash of architectural styles that it's hard to know where to start. To help you get your bearings, there are information centres at the entrances by Mº Porte-de-la-Villette, to the north, and Mº Porte-de-Pantin, in the south.
