North of Le Puy , the D906 crosses a vast and terminally depopulated area of pine-clad uplands - now the Parc Naturel Regional Livradois-Forez - and continues all the way to Vichy, via the historic town of La Chaise-Dieu and the old industrial centres of Ambert and Thiers .
