On the south side of the Loire, halfway between Sully and Gien, medieval weaponry is the theme at the Chateau de St-Brisson (April-Nov daily except Wed 10am-noon & 2-6pm; 22F/3.35). Demonstrations are given at 3.30pm and 4.30pm every other Sunday during summer in the moat, using bows and arrows, battering rams and devices for lobbing stones. The chateau also has an art gallery , with changing exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography, and hosts a concert series of jazz, opera and classical music (60F/9.15) at weekends during the summer, both of which help to make up for the rather unattractive mix of styles (twelfth- to seventeenth-century) of the building itself.
