There are plenty of cheap eating places around Blois' town centre: rue St-Lubin, rue des Violettes and rue Foulerie are good streets to try. La Garbure , 36 rue St-Lubin (tel 02.54.74.32.89; closed Wed & Sat lunch), serves specialities from the Perigord and Gascogne regions for under 100F/?15.24 - the garbure , a filling duck soup, is excellent; La Tocade , 9-11 rue Chant-des-Oiseaux, is a popular brasserie with good-value set menus for as little as 65F/?9.91; and, for straightforward meat grills, the friendly La Forge , 18 rue du Bourg-Neuf (tel 02.54.74.43.45; from 100F/?15.24), is a good option. A more upmarket restaurant is Au Rendez-Vous des Pecheurs , 27 rue Foix (tel 02.54.74.67.48; closed Sun & Mon lunch), with delicious fish dishes, especially the salmon, and a menu for around 150F/?22.87.
