Public Holidays
There are thirteen national holidays ( jours feries ), when most shops and businesses (though not necessarily restaurants), and some museums, are closed. May in particular is a big month for holidays: as well as May Day and VE Day, Ascension Day normally falls then, as sometimes does Pentecost.
