Practicalities
Lons' tourist office is in the same building as its theatre (Mon-Fri 8am-noon & 2-6pm, Sat 8am-noon & 2-5pm; tel 03.84.24.65.01, fax 03.84.43.22.59). For information about the Jura region, the Comite Departemental du Tourisme is at 8 rue Louis Rousseau (Mon-Fri: April-Nov 8.30am-12.30pm & 2-6pm; rest of year 8.30am-6pm; tel 03.84.87.08.88). Two good hotels are the recently renovated Terminus , 37 av Aristide-Briand, by the train station (tel 03.84.24.41.83, fax 03.84.24.68.07; 160-220F/?24-34), and the cosy Nouvel Hotel , 50 rue Lecourbe (tel 03.84.47.20.67, fax 03.84.43.27.49; 160-220F/?24-34), just west of place de la Liberte. There's a rather pricey campsite , Camping de la Marjorie (tel 03.84.24.26.94), on the northeast edge of town. For a truly inspired meal in a charming setting, pay a visit to the Bistrot des Marronniers , 22 rue de Valliere, west off rue St-Desire (closed Sun; menu from 60F/?9.15). For a coffee or drink, head for the Grand Cafe de Strasbourg , next to the theatre, which has a beautiful interior.
