For a stroll along the river and a quiet drink, either here or the Wagon & Horses up the road are the best pubs. Water Witch Aldcliffe Rd. Canalside pub named after an old canal packet boat. A student crowd munches burgers, shoots pool and hogs the canalside tables. Ye Olde John O'Gaunt Market St, near the City Museum. City-centre local with home-cooked food, special beers, tea and coffee on request, live music, and a small beer garden.
