Tube: Holborn or Chancery Lane (Mon-Sat only). Running along the eastern edge of Lincoln's Inn is legal London's main thoroughfare, Chancery Lane , home of the Law Society (the solicitors' regulatory body) and lined with shops where barristers, solicitors and clerks can buy their wigs, gowns, legal tomes, stationery and champagne. Halfway up the street are the London Silver Vaults (Mon-Fri 9am-5.30pm, Sat 9am-1pm; free), which began life as safe-deposit vaults, but now house a claustrophobic lair of subterranean shops selling every kind of silverware - occasionally antique, mostly tasteless.
