If you're in a group of three or more, London's metered black cabs can be an economical way of getting around the centre - a ride from Euston to Victoria, for example, should cost around GBP10. A yellow light over the windscreen tells you if the cab is available - just stick your arm out to hail it. (If you want to book one in advance, call 020/7272 0272.) Minicabs are less reliable than black cabs, but considerably cheaper, so you might want to take one back from a late-night club. Most minicabs are not metered, so always establish the fare beforehand. If you want to be certain of a woman driver, call Ladycabs (tel 020/7254 3501).
