Beyond Ipswich, the obvious destination is the Suffolk coast, but on the way it's worth considering a short stop at Sutton Hoo , where a brand new National Trust visitor centre has been built beside an Anglo-Saxon burial site unearthed in 1939. Near here also, a short detour to the north, is the tranquil village of Framlingham , a delightful place with a gaunt, ruined castle.
