Getting Around
The train network is at its best to and from London, with quick and frequent services from the capital to all of East Anglia's major towns. One mainline service links Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich, another Cambridge, Ely and Peterborough, which means it is relatively easy to move from one major town to another. However, once you get away from the major towns, you're going to have to rely on local buses , whose services, run by a multitude of companies, are very patchy - especially on Sundays and in winter. Indeed, in parts of north Norfolk and inland Suffolk, you may find the only way to get about is by your own transport. The largest regional bus operator is First Eastern Counties, who sell Ranger tickets providing unlimited travel for one day or more on their buses. These are available either in advance or from their drivers. Most tourist offices carry details of local buses and some of the more useful services are detailed in the text.
