Wells , twenty miles south of Bristol across the Somerset border and the same distance southwest from Bath, is a miniature cathedral city that has not significantly altered in eight hundred years. You might decide to make it a base for visiting nearby attractions in the Mendip Hills , such as the Wookey Hole caves and the Cheddar Gorge . On the southern edge of the range, and just a jump away from Wells, the town of Glastonbury is famed as one of Britain's main Arthurian sites, and has become an enthusiastic centre of New Age cults.
