Arrival, Accommodation and Information
Long-distance buses and trains both terminate at the train station , a ten-minute walk from the city centre, where you'll find the tourist office (mid-June to Aug Mon-Sat 9am-7pm, Sun 10am-5pm; rest of year Mon-Fri 9.30am-4.30pm, Sat 10am-1pm; www.odenseturist.dk ) on the Vestergade side of the Radhus - follow the signs. They sell the useful Adventure Pass (one day 85kr, two days 125kr), which gets you discounts on entrance to all of Odense's museums and gives unlimited travel on local buses. The only cheap options among Odense's hotels are Det Lille Hotel , Dronningensgade 5 (tel 66.12.28.21; GBP15-20/$24-32/?27-36), and Ydes , Hans Tausens Gade 11 (tel 66.12.11.31, www.ydes.dk ; GBP15-20/$24-32/?27-36). A youth hostel has recently opened next to the train station, Ostre Stationsvej 31 (tel 66.11.04.25, www.cityhostel.dk ; GBP5-10/$8-16/?9-18; open year round) and there's another at Kragsbjergvej 121 (tel 66.13.04.25, www.odense-danhostel.dk ; GBP5-10/$8-16/?9-18; mid-Feb to Nov) - take buses #61, #62, #63 or #64 south to Tornbjerg or Fraugde and get out along Munkebjergvej at the junction with Vissenbjergvej. The closest campsite (tel 66.11.47.02) has cabins and is at Odensevej 102, near the Funen Village; take buses #21, #22 or #23 from the Radhus or station to Højby. For Internet use, head for Game Play Net-cafe, Kongensgade 70 first floor (daily noon-midnight; 20kr/hr); Net Cafe 5000, Vindegade 43 (daily until midnight; 20kr/hr); or the large local library in the train station.
