The historic Bryghus (brewery) and Langebro (long bridge was constructed by Christian IV in the early seventeenth century. The Bryghus is a classic building of its time: a monumental red-brick structure with a massive roof, built to house the king's brewery and to provide rations to the navy, as well as to defend what was then the most outlying point of the island of Slotsholmen. Beer was brewed here only until 1767, when the building partially burnt down, since when it has served as a storage facility for the navy and later for the Arsenal Museum. It's not currently open to the public.
