Walk through Christiansborg Slot's main entrance and inner courtyard to reach the so-called Outer Courtyard , all that survives from the original Christiansborg, which burnt down in 1794. The courtyard is flanked by two long, low wings that curve around to meet at the Marmorbro (Marble Bridge), once the main entrance to Christiansborg, from where there's a stunning view of the palace complex. The courtyard's north wing is home to the magnificent Baroque Royal Riding School , an exquisite, light-filled indoor riding arena flanked by delicate arches and a balcony running into a royal box at the far end - it's considered Denmark's most important piece of eighteenth-century architecture and gives a clear indication of how highly equestrian skills were valued. The arena is open most days until 4pm - if you're lucky you may see the queen's horses being exercised here or on the Outer Courtyard itself in the morning.
