Bus #1, #2, #6, #8, #10, #37, #550S or #650S. The history of Christiansborg is inseparably linked to that of Copenhagen. The centrepiece of the present-day complex is Christiansborg Slot - a heavy, granite-faced neo-Baroque building topped by an enormous green, copper spire - which was constructed between 1907 and 1928 using the remains of the previous palace, which had been destroyed in a fire in 1884. It now houses the Folketing (Danish Parliament), the High Court, the prime minister's office and other ministries, and the Royal Reception Rooms. The main entrance to Christiansborg Slot, is on the square of Christiansborg Slotsplads , adorned with an equestrian statue of Frederik VII - a favourite spot for demonstrations against king or parliament. Head left around the outside of the building from here to reach the Folketing; head right to reach Christiansborg Slotskirke and Thorvaldsen's Museum. The entrance to the Ruins under Christiansborg is inside the main entrance, beyond which is Christiansborg Slot's Inner Courtyard and the entrance to the Royal Reception Rooms.
