Little Mermaid Vandalism
Over the years the Little Mermaid has been repeatedly vandalized, usually by artists or political protestors. The following are some of the most notable incidents: 1961: Bra and knickers painted on and hair painted red. 1963: Covered in red paint. 1964: Decapitated. 1976: Covered in paint (again). 1984: Right arm amputated. 1990: Attempted decapitation. 1998: Successful decapitation
