Guided tours: in English July & Aug Wed-Fri & Sun at 1pm; in Danish Wed-Fri & Sun at 11am & 1pm; free. Bus #1, #6 or #9. The Medical History Museum (Medicinsk-Historisk Museum), situated in a wing of what was originally the Danish Academy of Surgery, was designed by Peter Meyn in 1787, and is thus one of the few classical buildings in this area not designed by Eigtved. The museum's macabre account of Denmark's medical history features aborted foetuses, syphilis treatments, amputated feet, eyeballs and a dissected head, along with an original operating theatre complete with the dissecting table around which the gore-splattered pioneers of Danish surgery learnt their trade.
