Classical Music and Opera
Classical concerts take place throughout the year in concert halls and churches, the biggest event being the Prague Spring ( Prazske jaro ) international music festival , which traditionally begins on May 12, the day of Smetana's death, with a performance of Ma vlast , and finishes on June 2 with a rendition of Beethoven's Ninth. As well as the main venues, watch out for concerts in the churches and palaces, especially in summer. Rudolfinum , Alsovo nabrezi 12, Stare Mesto. Stunning Neo-Renaissance concert hall and home to the Czech Philharmonic. Metro Staromestska. Statni opera Praha , Wilsonova 4, Nove Mesto. The former German opera house, and the city's second-choice venue for opera and ballet. Metro Muzeum. Stavovske divadlo , Ovocny trh 1, Stare Mesto. Prague's main opera house, which witnessed the premiere of Mozart's Don Giovanni . Metro Mustek.
