Practicalities
Porec's bus station is just outside the town centre, behind the marina. From here, it's a five-minute walk to the tourist office at Zagrebacka 11 (Jun-Sep daily 8am-10pm; Oct-May daily 8am-3pm & 4.30-7.30pm; tel 052/451-458, www.istra.com/porec ), which provides information and will point you in the direction of agencies offering rooms : Atlas, Boze Milanovica 11 (tel 052/432-273), is probably the easiest to find. For hotels , try the friendly and central Porec , just behind the bus station on Rade Koncara 1 (tel 052/451-811 , www.tel.hr/duga ; GBP15-20/$24-32/?27-36). The closest campsites are at the Zelena Laguna complex, a few kilometres south - Zelena Laguna (tel 052/410-541) and, further south, Bijela Uvala (tel 052/410-551) - reachable by hourly bus from the bus station. As for food , there's a good sprinkling of places in the old town. Amicus , at Eufrazijeva 45, offers good-quality and good-value pizza, grilled meat and seafood; the Sarajevo Grill , just off Dekumanska on Matije Vlacica, has a good array of meat dishes; while Istra , on the corner of Obala marsala Tita and Boze Milanovica, is one of the best places to eat fish. Central Porec is full of cafes and bars with outdoor seating; it's really a question of deciding which brand of blaring music you're happy to tolerate.
