Eating, Drinking and Entertainment
For snacks , pick up delicious bread from the monk-run bakery just outside the east gate. Just above here, the Drushliavitsa restaurant serves excellent local trout on an outdoor terrace beside a babbling stream; downhill, behind the bakery, the Rila restaurant boasts a wider menu and a cocktail bar, but has rude staff and is prone to overcharging. The restaurants at the Tsarev Vrah and Rilets hotels are reasonably solid bets, with the latter offering fine views of the surrounding hills. Nightlife revolves around the subterranean bar at the Rilets , which hosts a disco if enough people turn up.
