Hemmed in by the Pirin Mountains to the west, the Rila massif to the north, and the Rhodopes to the east, Bansko and its surrounding countryside can boast some great walks. Bansko itself is the most convenient starting point for hikes, although the nearby villages of Dobarsko and Dobrinishte are also important trail heads - and have enough going for them to be worth a visit in their own right. The only other place worth mentioning in this neck of the woods is Eleshnitsa , site of a renowned folk festival on Easter Sunday.
