OnTsar Osvoboditel is a small square of greenery known popularly as Kristal , after the cafe that shelters on its southern flank. Opposite the park on the northern side of the boulevard is the recently spruced-up Neoclassical facade of the military club , once the centre of post-Liberation Bulgaria's high society, and the place where the Zveno (a radical political group that attracted young right-wing officers) hatched several conspiracies in the inter-war years. Bulevard Tsar Osvoboditel opens out into pl. Narodno sabranie - National Assembly Square . On the northern side stands a cream building housing the Narodno sabranie itself - Bulgaria's National Assembly , the facade of which bears the motto saedinenieto pravi silata (unity is strength). Directly opposite, a semicircular plaza encloses the Monument to the Liberators, which gives pride of place to a statue of the Tsar Osvoboditel , or "Tsar Liberator" himself, Alexander II of Russia.
