Sofia's gay scene was a purely underground phenomenon until recently, and although the number of bars and clubs is on the increase, addresses have a tendency of changing from one year to the next - property-owners don't always like giving long-term leases to nightlife ventures that might draw scandalized protests from the neighbours.
