Arrival
Sofia airport , 10km east of town, is connected to the centre by bus #84 (every 15-20min), which runs to Orlov Most; or the much more unpredictable minibus #30, which drops off outside the Tzum shopping mall. On leaving the international arrivals terminal, head to the right for about 100m to find the bus stop , where there's also a small kiosk selling tickets for the bus - if you're catching the minibus you must pay the driver direct. Both buses run between about 7am and 11pm. Taxi drivers tend to charge foreigners fresh off the plane a hefty US$20-30 for the ride into town. If you utter the odd word of Bulgarian or appear to know where you're going, you might get away with paying about half that.
