As elsewhere in Bulgaria, you can snatch a quick coffee or fruit juice almost anywhere in the downtown area from breakfast time till after midnight - and the same goes for drinking alcohol, whether you're talking beer, vodka or cocktails. Arkite corner of bul. Vazrazhdane and Kapitan Raicho. Pleasant outdoor drinking venue with beer garden atmosphere. Also serves basic grilled food. Big Ben Knyaz Aleksandar I 29. A place to lounge in wicker chairs under a canopy, and watch the korso . Does good ice creams and coffee. Caligula Knyaz Aleksandar I 30. Great central spot for an alfresco beer and a traditionally baked pizza. It's also a nightclub, though the sleazy unisex pole-dancing show which kicks off after 1am might not be to all tastes. Dreams Knyaz Aleksandar I 42. Trendy and continually busy place serving up coffee, cakes and ice cream, with extensive outdoor seating on the edge of pl. Stephan Stambolov. Dzumayata ground floor of the Dzumaya mosque. Excellent modern cafe serving traditional Turkish coffee and sweets right by the mosque entrance. Morris bul. Maritsa 122. So-called "English pub" north of the river, which is also a restaurant, offering a fairly bland menu, and a trendy nightclub. Murphy's ul. 11 Avgust 2. Busy drinking spot on a sidestreet just off the main drag, also serving grilled snacks and sandwiches. Simfoniya Tsar Simeon Garden. Very popular 24-hour terrace restaurant and bar beside the "musical fountain", offering light meals and extensive drinks menu. Also has a children's play area. Sinyata kashta ul. Slaveikov 25. Cosy bar housed in a National Revival mansion. Good place to drink or enjoy a quiet evening meal. Vladi Paldin 6. Family-run bar in an old house in the Stariyat grad , with a pleasant garden at the back.
