Eating, Drinking and Nightlife
There are dozens of cafes and snack stalls along the concourse leading to the old town, and beside both beaches, while most of the residents of Harmanite seem to be converting their garages and front gardens into cafe-aperitif bars . As for restaurants , places come and go and standards are variable, so some trial and error is inevitable. Sozopol offers the widest and freshest selection of fish on the coast, although you can't always tell whether your fillet has been recently grilled, or merely heated up in a microwave, and sea views can be enjoyed at the numerous places along Morski Skali or Istochna Aleya, the path along the eastern side of the peninsula. The Poseidon , at ul. Apoloniya 7, and the Vyatarna Melnitsa , at Morski Skali 27, are both touristy folk-style places with outdoor seating and easy-listening live music, while the Tangra , at Morski Skali 25, is as good a place as any to enjoy standard Bulgarian fare. For something slightly more upmarket, the Cazanova , on Istocha Aleya, is an Italian-influenced joint built into an overhanging portion of coastal cliff. In the uphill part of Harmanite, the restaurant of the Hotel Orion has an inviting east-facing terrace. If you're not in the mood for fish, the Pizzeria Margarita , just south of the bus station, is a fair, if rather touristy, option. Aside from promenading in the old town or attending a concert in the amphitheatre, nightlife consists of a couple of discos full of teenage Bulgarians, open from 10pm till dawn: venues tend to change, although they're usually to be found in Harmanite near the south beach.
