Eating and Drinking
At the western end of Tsar Osvoboditel, there's a row of four restaurants occupying National Revival-style houses - Popsheitanovata kashta, Stariyat Bor, Srebrova kashta and Osmarsa Izba . The latter has the widest range of Bulgarian specialities, although all four offer good traditional cuisine and plenty of outdoor seating. A little further on is the Veliki Preslav , next to the Pancho Vladigerov house, also offering Bulgarian specialities. Moving up in price, the panoramic restaurant on the top floor of the Hotel Shumen offers good service and excellent views. Drinking takes place in the numerous cafes that shelter under the lime and chestnut trees along bul. Slavyanski, or in the park that runs alongside ul. Madara between the town centre and the train station. The Shumen hotel has a nightclub with discos and variety shows.
