Eating and Drinking
Pleven's eating and drinking venues are mostly found around pl. Svobodata and ul. Vasil Levski. The best of the restaurants are to be found in a small complex of National Revival-era houses just off the northern end of Vasil Levski near the junction with Naicho Tsanov; Zlatna Guska is a traditional-style mehana serving the usual range of Bulgarian grills, while Balgarski koren , just round the corner, is a step up in quality, and has a lovely courtyard built around a brace of fountains. Kaskada , right behind the Svetlin Rusev Gallery, is a nice outdoor restaurant serving the usual grilled snacks and sandwiches, while Pizzeria Napoli , just south of the Balkan hotel on bul. Hristo Botev, offers decent Italian-style fare. Both the Balkan and Interostov hotels have fairly good restaurants of their own. Ulista Vasil Levski is the place to hang out in summertime, with a string of pavement cafes suitable for both daytime and night-time drinking . For late-night entertainment, the Interostov hotel has a regular disco (10pm-6am), occasionaly with live music.
