Wedged in between the chaussee de Charleroi and avenue Louise, western Ixelles is one of the most fashionable parts of the city, its more prosperous inhabitants occupying graceful late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century mansions. The district holds a fine sample of Art Nouveau houses, with the pick of them on or in the vicinity of rue Defacqz and rue Faider .
