Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-5pm; 3. Metro: Gare du Midi . The Musee Bruxellois de la Gueuze , rue Gheude 56, is located ten minutes' walk north of the Metro Gare du Midi via avenue Paul Henri Spaak and rue Limnander; to get there direct from Maison d'Erasme, take tram #56 from Metro St Guidon to Gare du Midi. Founded in 1879, the museum is home to the Cantillon Brewery , the last surviving Gueuze brewery in Brussels. Gueuze is still brewed here according to traditional methods: the beer, made only of wheat, malted barley, hops and water, is allowed to ferment naturally, reacting with natural yeasts peculiar to the Brussels air, and is bottled for two years before it is ready to drink. The museum gives a fairly dry explanation of the brewing process, while in the mustily evocative brewery itself you can see the huge vats the ingredients are boiled in before being placed in large oak barrels where the fermentation process begins. The results can be sampled at the tasting session at the end of your visit.
