The main tourist office is in the heart of the Altstadt at Mozartplatz 5 (daily: May-Sept 9am-8pm; Oct-April 9am-6pm; tel 0662/88987-330, www.salzburginfo.at ), but the first port of call for many new arrivals is the information kiosk on platform 2A of the train station (daily: May-Sept 8.30am-9pm; Oct-April 9am-8pm). Both are busy throughout the year, and staff - especially at the station branch - can sometimes appear overworked and short-tempered. Information kiosks at other likely points of arrival include: at the airport , outside the main terminal building in the car park (June-Oct daily 9am-7pm; Easter-May Mon-Sat 9am-6pm Nov-Easter Mon-Sat 9am-5pm); Salzburg-Mitte , Munchner Bundesstrasse 1, about 1km south of the Salzburg-Mitte exit from the A1 autobahn on the main road into town (May-Oct daily 9am-8pm; Nov-April Mon-Sat 11am-5pm); and Salzburg-Sud , Alpensiedlung-Sud, Alpenstrasse, about 5km north of the Salzburg-Sud exit of the A10 autobahn (same hours as Salzburg-Mitte). All of the above provide a host of free brochures in English (although they charge oS10/?0.73 for a city map), and will book you into a hotel or pension (for a nominal fee). They also sell a Salzburg Card , which gives free access to the majority of city museums and attractions, as well as unlimited use of city transport (oS230/?16.79 for 24hr, oS320/?23.36 for 48hr, oS410/?29.93 for 72hr) - it's worth the investment if you're visiting more than a couple of attractions a day.
