On To Costa Rica
From David the Interamericana continues west 56km to the Costa Rican border at PASO CANOAS , passing through the saddle-making town of La Concepcion, from where a side road heads up to Volcan and Cerro Punta. The migracion at the border is open 24 hours, and there's an IPAT office (daily 6am-midnight) and a Banco Nacional where you can change travellers' cheques. Moneychangers will change Costa Rican currency. After passing through migracion and customs (a formality unless you have anything to declare) you simply walk across the border, though queues for both can be long if international buses are passing through. If you're coming the other way, PADAFRONT buses for David (every 10min between 5am and 6pm; 1hr 20min) and Panama City (11 daily; 7-9hr) depart from just beyond the border.
