Arrival and Information
Aeroperlas flights from Panama City, Bocas del Toro and San Jose arrive at the airport , about 5km out of town, a US$2 taxi ride away. Aeroperlas (tel 721 1195 or 721 1230) have an office just off the Parque on C A Nte. Buses from Panama City, Almirante, Boquete, Cerro Punta and Paso Canoas, and TRACOPA international buses from San Jose all leave from the terminal on Av Cincuentenario. If you're heading to San Jose or by express bus to Panama City you should buy a ticket in advance. There's a self- service restaurant, America in the terminal and a left-luggage office that's open until 10pm. The not very helpful IPAT office (Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm; tel 775 4120) is next to the cathedral on the Parque. If you're heading for Costa Rica and need a visa, the Costa Rican consulate (tel 779 1923) is on the outskirts of town on Av 20 Este, while if you need a Panamanian visa extension or permission to leave the country, the migracion (Mon-Fri 8am-3.30pm; tel 775 4515) is on Calle C Sur.
