The main IPAT office (Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm; tel 226 7000) is in the Atlapa Convention Centre on Av 6 Sur, out in the suburbs east of El Cangrejo, but it's not really worth hauling yourself all the way out there for the limited information available. Though they do their best to answer specific questions and some speak a little English, the staff are not really used to independent travellers asking for information and tend to limit themselves to dishing out glossy brochures. For simple queries, you're better off asking at the IPAT booth on the corner of Via Espana and C Ricardo Arias in El Cangrejo, or at the international and domestic airports. Generally, you'll find tour companies a better source of information on the interior of the country, though of course they'll want to sell you a tour. The Voyager International Hostel is an excellent source of travel advice, though only for those staying there. Panama's National Parks and other protected natural areas are managed by the National Environment Agency ANAM (tel 315 0855), in Edificio 804 at the former US military base of Albrook. Although promoting ecotourism is allegedly part of their policy, actually getting any information out of them is almost impossible - you're better off going to the regional offices or heading straight to the parks. The Kuna General Congress (tel 225 5822) has an office on the first floor of the Azteca building on the corner of C27 and Av Mexico, where you can get general information on Kuna Yala and permission to stay in the Nusagandi Lodge .
