Esteli's eating scene is rather disappointing unless you like pizza, or the Nicaraguan interpretation of it. In the early evening a couple of small kiosks open up on the Parque serving grilled meat, rice and salad for around US$2. by the glass. White House Pizza behind the cathedral is a popular pizza chain serving large pizzas for US$4-6, while El Mesero , opposite, is a reasonable choice for lunch or an early-evening meal. The spartan and easily missed Comedor Popular La Soya on Av Central, two blocks south of Hotel Nicarao , serves plentiful soya and rice dishes with soya milkshakes for US$2. Sorbeteria Iris , on the north side of the Parque, will quell any ice-cream cravings.
