Information
Managua's Inturismo office is the country's only real tourist information centre. Though the staff are friendly, they can't offer much practical help and you're unlikely to come away with much more than a bunch of colourful leaflets. Ask for a copy of the bimonthly Guia Facil Nicaragua (US$1), a useful publication packed with countrywide events listings and features. If Inturismo don't have it, you should be able to pick it up in the bigger hotels. Useful English-language Web sites include www.guideofnicaragua.com , which has up-to-date information, maps and features on travelling in Nicaragua, and www.intur.gob.ni , the official government tourist site. For more general information about the country visit www.centralamerica.com/nicaragua .
