Work and Study
Honduras is waking up to the demand for language schools , though it's by no means in the same league as neighboring Guatemala, with just a few schools operating in Tegucigalpa, Copan and La Ceiba. Courses can be taken for any length of time you choose and always include the option of staying with a family. Schools generally also arrange cultural and social activities. Opportunities for paid employment are few and far between in Honduras. Perhaps easiest to come by are jobs teaching English at one of the small language schools - try under listings for Academias de Idiomas in the yellow pages. On the other hand there are probably thousands of vacancies for voluntary workers (Honduras has more Peace Corp people than any other country in Latin America), as organizations have flooded into Honduras to rebuild the nation after Hurricane Mitch.
