Eating, Drinking and Entertainment
Most of the better restaurants are in the central area around the plaza. Films are shown at the cinema on 3 Calle, half a block west of the plaza. Cafe Jardin , 4 C and 6 Av. Friendly place serving inexpensive but excellent breakfasts, milkshakes, pancakes and the usual chicken and beef dishes. Hotel Central , 5 Av 1-33. Very tasty, inexpensive set meals, and a particularly good breakfast. La Cabana del Cafe , 2 Calle, opposite Hotel Vasquez . Logwood cafe with an excellent range of coffees (including cappuccino), great cakes and a few snacks. La Fonda de Don Juan , 2 C 5-35. Attractive place with gingham tablecloths, serving good, if slightly pricey, pizza and pasta, and a reasonable range of beers. Mi Tierra , 4 C 6-46. Attractive little restaurant set in a covered patio with nice decor and a good atmosphere. The flavoursome menu is more imaginative than most - great for house salads, churrascos (barbecued meat) and cheesecake - plus very cheap and healthy breakfasts. Also has Internet facilities and a good noticeboard.
