Arrival and Information
The easiest way to get to Cahuita from San Jose is by bus on the direct Transportes MEPE service (4 daily; 4hr), which goes on to Puerto Viejo. Taking a bus from San Jose to Puerto Limon (3hr) and then changing for Cahuita (4 daily) is only marginally less expensive than taking the direct bus and increases travelling time by at least an hour. In Cahuita, buses stop at the central crossroads opposite the Salon Sarafina bar-disco, which has a colourful and detailed map of the village painted on its exterior. Current timetables are posted in front of the Cahuita Tours office, 200m north along the village's main street.
