Nightlife and Entertainment
While there are no discos, clubs or theatres on the island, there are lots of great bars and festivals that give you a chance to tilt a few back and party. For those with more refined tastes, the bar at Caneel Bay offers nightly calypso, pan bands and fine wines from 8.30 pm to 11pm. The Beach Bar Wharfside Village tel 340/714-0516. Located just outside Low Key Watersports, this is the perfect spot for a burger and a beer after a tough day on the water. For appetizers, try the flying shrimp. Always hopping around happy hour. Live music Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Duffy's Love Shack Behind the municipal park, Cruz Bay tel 340/693-8886. The better half of the Duffy's party empire that started in St Thomas, this place is still known more for its drinks than for its burritos, tacos and burgers. But once you've had a Bikini-tini, Shark Tank or a Tiki God Rum Punch, who cares? Fred's Restaurant, Bar and Cut-Rate Store , Cruz Bay tel 340/776-6363. The food is missable but the dancing and live calypso music on Wednesday night and live reggae on Friday night really hit the spot. Hailed as the biggest Friday night party around. On other nights, don't be surprised if someone starts off some all-night karaoke party. The Inn at Tamarind Court 34E Enighed tel 340/776-6378. Bar and restaurant with country rock on Wednesday night and reggae on Saturday night. Larry's Landing Wharfside Village tel 340/693-8802. A pour-your-own bar facing the beach that offers pool and video games. There are also TVs here for you to watch the big game. Skinny Legs Coral Bay tel 340/779-4982. You'll know you've made it when you see a parking lot full of rusted-out beaters and ratty dogs scratching their fleas. This local shack bar, adorned with old flip-flop and broken-sandal mobiles and smashed windsurfing boards, is a fun drinking spot popular among the boating crowd and locals. There's occasional live music. Sandwiches and burgers only for US$5-7. Woody's Seafood Saloon Cruz Bay tel 340/779-4625. Look for all the people spilling onto the street and you'll know you've found Woody's - a hole in the wall serving fried seafood and a party of booze and beautiful waitresses. Open until 2am most nights. It's popular with the college crowd who woof down shots with names like Surfing on Acid.
