From Scarborough the Windward Road leads through numerous tiny villages, including Mount St George (the island's first British capital), Goodwood, Goldsborough and Pembroke. Worth a stop en route is the First Historical Cafe at Studley Park, where local history and anecdotes make for a fascinating visit even if you're not hungry. Shortly after Glamorgan is a signposted left turn for the Richmond Great House , a hotel, restaurant and essential point of call for almost all tour buses. Built of solid brick and whitewashed board in the eighteenth century, this was the estate house of the old Richmond sugar estate, and it offers fantastic views over the jungle-smothered interior hills. It also contains an extensive collection of African art and textiles; tours (daily 10am-4pm; TT$15) are available. Past Richmond and the tiny village of Belle Garden is Argyll, the location of the Argyll Waterfall (daily 7.30am-5pm), signalled by the cache of guides waiting by the roadside. Official guides (carrying ID and wearing khaki; TT$15, plus tip) are located in the car park, the place to pay the entrance fee (TT$20). The falls, a pleasant fifteen-minute walk away, are the island's highest (54m) and are comprised of three main cascades - the different tiers are great for a dip. Turning inland past the small village of Roxborough, the Windward Road swings through the hilltop village of Delaford , making one almighty bend at the outskirts to reveal a breathtaking view of the spiky coconut plantation surrounding beautiful, deep-blue King's Bay below. The beach (daylight hours; free) here is one of the few along the windward coast to provide changing facilities (TT$1) and is one of the few in the area.
