Arrival and Getting Around
Getting around St Lucia's northern point is relatively easy, since frequent buses run the length of the coast between Castries, Gros Islet and Cap Estate near the island's northern tip. Marked Route 1A, they leave from the Marketing Board behind the Central Market on Jeremie Street. Schedules are theoretical, for buses tend to leave when they are full or ready, but count on at least one departure every hour from 6.30am until 10pm, with more services for the Jump-Up on Friday night. You'll pay EC$2.50 to travel from Castries to Reduit Beach, Rodney Bay Marina or Gros Islet. If you're travelling from farther afield, you'll have to change buses at Castries. If you don't have a car and would rather avoid public transport, the most hassle-free mode of transport is to hire a taxi . From downtown Castries to any of the resorts along the northeast coast, expect to pay around EC$40-50.
