Vividly colourful and often loud, Central Market on Jeremie Street at the northern perimeter of downtown is one of the busiest parts of Castries. Newly built and rambling, the structure houses several markets, all of which are busiest on Saturday mornings. Inside are rows of craft booths , with vendors selling baskets, spices, carvings, T-shirts, straw hats and tacky souvenirs. Under an orange roof to the left of the Jeremie Street entrance is the colourful and busy fruit and vegetable market , where you can find a wealth of fresh produce. Across from the Central Market on Peynier Street , and easily identifiable by the rust-coloured roof, is the Vendor's Arcade , another set of craft stalls selling the same rather tacky wares at slightly higher prices.
