The crescent-shaped ANSE-A-L'ANE , just 2km east of Pointe-du-Bout, fell within developers' viewfinders recently, and earned its very own resort, the Club des Trois-Ilets (tel 0596/68 31 67, fax 68 37 65, ; US$100-130 with breakfast). The Club runs a popular dive shop (tel 0596/68 36 36; ?30.50-46), and clients can use the hotel's pool. The other side of the grey sand here is still pretty laid-back, with a campsite and restaurant dominating the waterfront property instead of canopied beach chairs. There are minimal places to stay otherwise; one, Le Courbaril (tel 0596/68 32 30, fax 68 32 21, loc.courbaril@wanadoo.fr ; US$25-50), offers forty cheerful fan-only bungalows with kitchenettes and terraces right on the beach. Le Nid Tropical (tel 0596/68 31 30, fax 68 47 43; up to US$25), one of Martinique's rare maintained campsites , is due east of the Courbaril ; the dozen-odd sites are complemented by simple fan-only beach bungalows. The ferry from Fort-de-France docks at the pier facing the campsite.
