Marie-Galante's oldest hamlet, quiet ST-LOUIS , is mostly visited as a debarkation point from inter-island ferries and for its nearby beaches . Starting 3km north of town, the fine crescent moons of Plage Moustique, Anse Canot and Anse de Vieux-Fort are rarely crowded. None has facilities, leaving you to rely on St-Louis for food . A bakery with pastries and sandwiches occupies a corner facing the pier. Katimini Pub , a hole-in-the-wall restaurant and bar to the left of the pier, has filling boudin, accras , and crabe farci , and is popular with young locals, especially on weekends when the tables often get pushed aside for zouk-style dancing . Le Refuge , another good spot 2km south of town via the N9, is strong on seafood and doubles as a gite (B&B) with comfortable A/C rooms and individual apartments (tel 0590/97 02 95, fax 97 11 36; US$50-75). The island's only resort, Cohoba (tel 0590/97 50 50, fax 97 97 96, ; US$130-160), is nearby, offering fully equipped doubles or bungalow-style chambers by a small, private beach.
