Popular with scuba divers, laid-back CAPESTERRE occupies scenic lowlands near Marie-Galante's best beach, Plage de la Feuillere . Another good beach in the vicinity, Petite Anse , also gets its share of sunbathers, while between the two, the excellent Scubaguad diving centre (?38.11; tel & fax 0590/97 20 59, paul.villevieille@wanadoo.fr ), runs thrice-daily trips to the island's pristine underwater sites. The best overview of the local flora and fauna is at Maree Sucre , a shallow bay busy with rays, tiny baby fish, angelfish and trumpetfish. Back on land, Capesterre's other draw is the mint-condition Moulin de Bezard (daily 10am-2pm; ?1.52), a functioning windmill 6km north of town, located behind some superbly restored slave shacks.
